But Ya Don’t Care

Lyrics

I gotta say, she loves me more
She wanna spend her life with me
But I’d rather be with you assuming that I can
But you won’t make the call
And that don’t help at all

Here I am, just stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
I don’t know which way I’m gonna go
And so I’m stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
You don’t care a thing about the way I feel, the things I do, to try to win your love
And so I’m standing here just stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
Guess you don’t want any part of me

You try to tell me that I’m wrong
That she don’t love me like you do
But I know she wants me like the way that I want you
It’s hard to make the call
You don’t love me at all

Here I am, just stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
I don’t know which way I’m gonna go
And so I’m stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
You don’t care a thing about the way I feel, the things I do, to try to win your love
And so I’m standing here just stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
Guess you don’t want any part of me

I don’t know why I always end up with a mess
My poor old heart can’t handle you and all your stress
When I’m with her she makes me feel like I’m the one
But when I’m with you
You never follow through

Here I am, just stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
I don’t know which way I’m gonna go
And so I’m stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
You don’t care a thing about the way I feel, the things I do, to try to win your love
And so I’m standing here just stuck out in the middle but ya don’t care
Guess you don’t want any part of me

Background

Not much to say.  I’ve written plenty of songs about women choosing the “bad boy” over the “good guy,” which I’ve seen happen many times in person. With this song I wanted to approach it from the opposite perspective. I improvised the guitar solo in the first take – it’s not perfect but I wanted to keep it honest.  This is the first song I recorded for the album.
